SpringyNews: Out of Beta, Into Primetime

September 2014

Officially Out of Beta!

Spot-light center stage. Drum-roll, please. Ladies and gentleman, the wait is over.  LibGuides v2 is officially out of Beta and into prime-time production!

Does it cost anything to update to LibGuides v2?

Nope! Updating to LibGuides v2 is completely free - there is no cost to the update, and you'll benefit from all the amazing features.

How do I start the process of updating to LibGuides v2?

Step 1 - Request your v2 Site - When you request your v2 site, you get a brand spankin' new site! (Filling it with content comes later.) It's completely separate from your v1 site, so there's no need to worry about it until you're ready to go live with v2. Keep an eye on your email for any emails from "LibApps".

LibApps Welcome Email

Once you request your v2 site you'll be able to navigate to it directly from your LibGuides v1 site.

Step 2 - Play & Learn: Attend training sessions, create accounts for colleagues, and play around with your system.

LibGuides Content Migration

Step 3 - Prepare your Content for Migration: So, you're getting ready for the big move. You need to pack things into boxes, cleanout closets, and label everything for the movers. The same concept applies for migrating from v1 to v2. There are detailed instructions and helpful reports to ensure a successful and happy migration right from within your LibGuides v1 system.

Step 4 - Migrate your Content from v1 to v2: Moving to LibGuides v2 is like moving to a new house. Content migration moves your content from your old house (v1) to your new house (v2). Schedule your migration right from within your LibGuides v1 system.

  • Content Migration FAQ - We list every conceivable FAQ you might have about migrating your content.
  • Migration Training Session - Our amazing training team has detailed migration information in the 'Migrating from LibGuides v1 to v2' training session. Check out our training calendar and sign-up for the next available date!
Can't attend a live training? No worries, we have recordings! Login to your LibGuides v2 system and select HELP from the Orange Command bar > Training Sessions & Recordings. Voila! Watch and repeat.
  • Detailed Migration Help Guide - Login to your LibGuides v2 system and checkout the Migrating to LibGuides v2 (and Going Live!) help guide.

Step 5 - Cleanup: Hey, it happens when you move houses. Sometimes you need to do some post-move cleanup. If the cleanup takes some time, don't worry! Going live is on your timeline, not ours.

Step 6 - Moving your V1 site to a new domain: Part of the process of going live means that your v1 URL needs to change. Why? Because we're going to take your v1 URL and map it into your v2 system - so your end-users won't notice a change in URLs at all. ;) Forgot something in your v1 system that you want to add or rebuild in v2? No worries, after you go live, your v1 site is accessible for 180 days.

Sample V1 URL: yourdomain.v1.libguides.com

Step 7 - Go Live: When you're ready, push the button to turn your LibGuides v2 Beta site into your live LibGuides system. We'll map over your LibGuides URL for a seamless transition for your users. Start the 'Go Live' process right inside your LibGuides v1 system.
