Use of these event-specific LibGuides has increased collaboration between the library and other campus offices. LibGuides and related posters educated patrons about international holiday customs on a campus with increasing number of international students. They also promoted the visibility of the library’s resources. These LibGuides have been serving as windows for library users to get a glimpse of the library’s collections and as examples for libraries to collaborate with other campus organizations.

American University of Sharjah LibGuides Databases A-Z List
After the American University of Sharjah (AUS) Library migrated its Integrated Library System (ILS) and discovery interface to OCLC WorldShare Management System (WMS) in 2016, we needed to find a new way to synchronize database data. This article will outline how we automated this process using WMS APIs and LibGuides. Other libraries using WMS and LibGuides should consider using a similar procedure to produce easily automated Database A-Z pages that work well for their patrons.

There are 1,166 LibGuides hosted by 16 universities, and published by 299 owners in South Africa giving the country a 0.22% of the world's share of LibGuides, and a 0.22% share of the world's LibGuides owners. Each LibGuide owner in the country owns almost four LibGuides. Close to 70% of public universities in South Africa own LibGuides.

After selecting and implementing LibGuides as the platform for the delivery of subject guides content, and providing training, librarians at Rutgers University Libraries are updating their guides with greater frequency and generally have found LibGuides to be easier to update once they become comfortable using this new software for content management. The implementation of LibGuides has increased the use of subject research guides for both reference and instruction. In particular, instruction has been enhanced by the ability to create and customize course-specific guides. Overall, the implementation of LibGuides has been deemed successful given the increase in updating by librarians and use of the guides.

Comprehensive IP LibGuides have been effective for connecting students studying abroad with library resources and information about their host country. Equally important have been student employees who assist patrons and market library resources. Detailed LibGuides and knowledgeable student workers have helped students abroad better use resources such as the IP LibGuides, library databases, ebooks, print books owned by the international campuses, and interlibrary services.

One of the toughest challenges in an academic library systems office is how to manage and present the extensive selection of electronic resources from a variety of vendors. At York College of Pennsylvania, the authors participated in an admissions-driven web revision cycle and used a campus-provided CMS for 8 years. During this time, they tried very hard not to be the proverbial square peg in the round hole, but eventually they convinced their administration that the complexity of their web vision required a CMS designed specifically for libraries. This article will share their experience on how they selected, bought, and implemented Springshare's LibGuides.

LibGuides provide an accessible, easy-to-use method of designing subject-specific portals to library resources. Using the architecture of a specific curriculum to format the layout of the guides has proved effective in terms of increasing their use in the library. In addition to the statistical evidence of use, feedback via the boxes in the guide has been positive, with the average rating of 4 on a scale of 1–5 (n = 14).

The role of LibGuides as online instructional platforms for information literacy and other subjects is one that is just beginning to be realized. Guides that can stand on their own as tutorials can overcome the problems with one-shot instruction sessions that lack measurable student learning outcomes. Assignment guides can be designed to address key learning theories to meet those goals and engage students more effectively in their own learning and provide that instruction at the student's point of need.
