Public Library - Events Calendar

Say hi to Evie! This Chatbot is designed to help answer patrons' questions about the library calendar. Evie can help find upcoming events or direct patrons to live chat or the ticket queue with questions about their registration status. There's also the option to suggest a library program!

What does this chatbot do?

What does this chatbot NOT do?

  • Connect to a LibCal calendar to search for library events.
    • Try it out by searching for "genealogy", "yoga", or "story time"!
    • If you use another calendar service, you can easily drop a link to it in your chatbot flow instead! 
  • Link to a LibWizard form so patrons can suggest program and event ideas to the library.
  • Send patrons to live chat operators when they need help canceling an event registration, checking their status on the waitlist, and more. 
    • If live chat is offline, patrons will have the option to submit a ticket.
  • Answer questions about library services beyond the events calendar. 
    • Why? If patrons click on "Need Help?" while they're on the events calendar page, they probably need help with library events! We want to keep our questions focused on what the patron likely needs, targeted to where they're using Chatbot. 
  • Provide alternate ways of contacting the library (such as the library's phone number or email address). 
    • Why? Evie the Events Bot instead routes patrons to live chat or the ticket queue to help make sure all event questions are answered in one place by the librarians who manage the events. Nice and streamlined!
