QuestionPoint Customers Migrating to LibAnswers

Who, What, Where, and How?

Big News - LibAnswers Cooperative Go-Live Date(s)

by Talia Richards on 2019-11-06T10:39:36-05:00 | Comments

Many of you have been asking us about moving to the LibAnswers Co-Op sooner rather than later (i.e., you do not want to wait for the previously announced 6 month window from the official announcement date). We hear you!

"When is the go-live date?" is the most popular question we’ve received, with the close second being "Can we go live, like, next week?"

We’ve had lots of discussions about these questions and are super excited to announce that we're going to have two opportunities for sites to Go-Live with the LibAnswers 24/7 Co-Op!

Please note, the go-live dates below apply to QuestionPoint users who are either contributing or non-contributing members of the 24/7 Cooperative. If you do not give hours to the Cooperative or receive support from the Cooperative, you are considered Software-Only and the below Go-Live dates do not apply to you. (There is a section at the bottom that does relate to you, our Software-Only friends, so please keep reading…or skip to that part!)

LibAnswers 24/7 Cooperative Go-Live Dates

  • First Round Go-Live Date: February 28, 2020
  • Final Go-Live Date: May 29, 2020

Why two dates? You said there'd be one Go-Live date for everyone?

As Allen Saunders said, "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." While our original plan was to have one go-live date for the entire 24/7 Cooperative, after speaking with many of you and hearing your thoughts, concerns, and ideas…we realized it was impossible to pick a date that works for everyone. We also listened when some of you told us about having specific training or feature requirements that take longer to implement than others. So, we worked hard and found a way to give you, our customers, the choice between going live early or taking your time.

Which date is better? How should we pick?

Ultimately, the decision is up to you, based on your needs and desires. There are a few features that will not be ready for the Feb 28, 2020 First Round Go-Live date, but will be ready by the Final Go-Live date on May 29, 2020. This may help you make your decision, whether it’s to wait until they are available or to just understand that there will be things you can / want to adjust once they are available. As always, drop us a note ( if you have any questions or concerns!

  • Multilingual Support for Admin Screens: LibAnswers Public-facing screens are currently multilingual. However, the backend screens that Librarians and chat operators interact with are English-only. We plan on offering multilingual support for specific admin screens (chat console, and chat-related screens) by the May 29, 2020 final go-live date.
  • Email Question Form w/ 10 Fields: If you're using the QuestionPoint email form, you'll notice you have the ability to add up to 10 demographic questions to your email question form. LibAnswers currently has the ability to add 6 demographic questions to the LibAnswers email form, not including Name/Email. If your QuestionPoint email question form has 6+ demographic questions (not including Name/Email) and you want to wait for that functionality to be available, it will be available by the May 29, 2020 Final Go-Live date.
  • Robust Post-Chat Feedback Survey: LibAnswers' LibChat does include a post-chat feedback survey and we are planning on adding enhancements to this survey to make it more customizable and robust by the May 29, 2020 Final Go-Live Date.

If you're part of a Local Cooperative like AskWA, AskMN, California Community Colleges, etc... you'll need to come to a decision at the local Cooperative level regarding the migration date. It is not possible to have some libraries in a Local Cooperative be in the First Round while the rest are in the Final Round. Only administrators of the Local Cooperative can submit a request for the First Round Go-Live date.

Sooo…. drum roll please… If you want to be in the first round of customers to migrate and go-live with LibAnswers on February 28, 2020, let us know by filling out the form below! (We will only migrate customers who specifically let us know by filling out this form.) If you have questions before you want to commit to filling out the form, email us at

Please only fill out this form if:

  1. You're an administrator of your QuestionPoint system; OR
  2. If you're a member of a local cooperative, you’re the local cooperative's central administrator.

>> Request to Go-Live: First Round on Feb 28, 2020 <<

Wanting to go-live on Feb 28, 2020?

You're excited. And we're excited that you're excited. And you want to move to LibAnswers as soon as possible because you've got momentum.

Here's how it will work for institutions who want to migrate on the Feb 28, 2020 First Round Go-Live date:

  • You'll continue to use QuestionPoint until the Feb 28, 2020 Go-Live date.
  • Between now and Feb 28, 2020 we'll work with you on getting trained and your systems installed, customized, setup, and ready.
  • On Feb 28, 2020 you'll:
    • Replace all of your QuestionPoint chat widgets and email question forms with LibAnswers chat widgets and email question forms.
    • Cease to sign into QuestionPoint and sign into LibAnswers (more specific details to follow).
  • Additionally, we'll hire more Springshare 24/7 librarians to monitor both LibAnswers Co-Op and the QuestionPoint Co-Op.

Wanting to go-live on May 29, 2020?

We get it. You need a bit of extra time to tie all the loose ends, to dot the Is and cross the Ts. It’s okay, we’ve got you covered!

Here's how it will work for institutions who want to migrate on the May 29, 2020 Final Go-Live Date:

  • You'll continue to use QuestionPoint until the May 29, 2020 Final Go-Live Date.
  • Between now and May 29, 2020 we'll work with you on getting trained and your systems installed, customized, setup, and ready.
  • On May 29, 2020 you'll:
    • Replace all of your QuestionPoint chat widgets and email question forms with LibAnswers chat widgets and email question forms.
    • Cease to sign into QuestionPoint and sign into LibAnswers (more specific details to follow).

Lastly, we couldn't help but notice the coincidence of that date. It’s almost one full year from our acquisition of QuestionPoint! May 31, 2019 we began our journey and we'll complete the final step in the process by May 29, 2020.

We hope you're excited for this announcement and we look forward to hearing from you!

Software-Only Users - These Dates Don't Apply To You

As mentioned above, these dates specifically apply to 24/7 Co-Op members - users that receive support from the global network of libraries and the 24/7 Springshare librarians. If you don't give or receive support from the 24/7 Cooperative, then you're considered software-only.

This means you’re eligible to migrate at any time. In fact, we'd like to work with you on migrating sooner rather than later!

It's time to start:

  • Training - If you haven't signed-up for training, we still have some live sessions in November. If you can't make these live sessions, we have recordings available
  • Requesting Your LibAnswers System - If you don't have a LibAnswers system already, please contact us and we'll get your system installed. Getting a LibAnswers system does not mean that you're live with LibAnswers! It's just the first step in the migration process. ‚Äč
