LibGuides CMS and the Springshare community can help even small libraries realize their dreams of a modern, attractive, accessible, mobile-friendly website home page. We're a library department of 8 in a university with under 1,000 students. I'm the Instruction and Web Services librarian, but working on the website is only a tiny part of my job. Enter our heroes, LibGuides CMS and Joe Hilton at the University of Liverpool! We created a new, engaging, accessible and (dare we say so) stylish home page (https://library.csum.edu/home), based on the University of Liverpool's design. It only took a couple of weeks during the summer of 2021 to make the changes. It's an enormous upgrade for us and I'd love to let other small libraries know they could do it too!
Katherine Luce - became a librarian in 2010, after realizing that she had been turning regular jobs (legal marketing) into library jobs (fun company research!). She has worked in academic libraries since then, including community colleges and now a small campus of the California State University system which is also a maritime academy. She enjoys working at small institutions because the workday is nicely varied. Hats she has worn include information literacy instruction (credit-bearing and non-credit bearing, in person and online); open educational resources; copyright; curriculum development; liaison work; collection development; outreach; research guides; and web services.
