Over the course of several months, our group of librarians at James Madison University ran a series of usability tests of our research guides with undergraduate students across various majors. We had a student assistant facilitate as each participant completed a series of tasks, while we observed in another room using Morae. We laughed, we cried, we yelled at the screen—and we learned a lot. In this presentation, we’ll talk through the basic logistics of our testing, highlight some things we learned, and explain what we’re doing with this new information.
