LibGuides and Digital Literacy for the New Online Student: An Academic Reference Librarian's Approach to Faculty Collaborations

Approaching an online teaching world through faculty collaborations with Springshare LibGuides and digital literacy in this interactive session come learn the best online academic library practices in engaging faculty and designing scholarly Springshare LibGuides. From scholarly databases to search engines to the Library of Congress Classification System and Copyright Issues to Plagiarism and Citation Style Guides, this program will explore a wealth of information pertaining to librarians and faculty in their online library teaching academic endeavors. The presentation will address, discuss and exchange innovative methods on how to use best practices for ensuring faculty and librarians make a productive online transition to library digital literacy. The program also will discuss the ACRL Standards for Literacy Competency Framework along with the American Library Associations Literacy Guide. 

Kimberly Michelle Gay is Head of the Reference and Information Services Department and Academic Reference and Instruction Librarian II at the John B. Coleman Library of Prairie View A&M University- A part of the Texas A&M University System. Gay served as the Interim/Acting Head of the Reference and Information Services Department 2013-2014. She celebrated her 17th year of working for the Texas A&M System and 14-years with PVAMU this year. Gay is the Library Faculty Liaison on the main campus for: University College, College of Agriculture and Human Sciences, College of Engineering-interim, Department of Chemistry-interim, Department of Mathematics-interim, Department of Physics-interim.
