Connect LibStaffer with LibCal

Avoid double-booking yourself and your staff! If your library subscribes to both LibCal and LibStaffer, you can activate the LibStaffer Sync to connect your LibStaffer shifts to your LibCal Appointments availability times!

This is a great way to manage complicated scheduling situations like a library with staff who work shifts at multiple service points and also schedule one-on-one appointments.

Turn LibCal Sync on in LibStaffer:

  • From the LibStaffer - click on your email address on the right-hand side of the command bar
  • Click on Calendar Sync
  • Select Active under LibCal Sync

Activate LibStaffer Syncing in LibCal:

  • From LibCal - Click Appointments in the command bar.
  • Click the Integrations tab.
  • In the LibStaffer Sync panel, set the LibStaffer Shift Sync option to Sync LibStaffer shifts with Appointments availability.

Springy Cleaning for FAQs

LibAnswers: Use Internal Notes for FAQs!

A library's FAQ list is often the first place patrons go to find information about library policies and procedures. As such, it's important that these FAQs are current and the appropriate people have had a chance to review them. Rather than managing multiple platforms or documents, we suggest adding internal notes to track changes, keep team members up to date, and more!

Springy Tips for Internal Notes

  • Track changes:  Leave internal notes when an FAQ is changed or updated. This creates a history of changes, which can be especially helpful when multiple people are updating FAQs in a group or if someone leaves your organization.
  • Collaborate + Communicate: When multiple team members are working on FAQs together, leaving notes can be a great way to communicate!
  • Review and Leave Feedback: Library managers and admins can use internal notes to leave feedback on FAQs that are in-process or need approval before publication.

Use LibWizard for Staff Onboarding

LibWizard is a great tool for student tutorials, instruction quizzes, and even virtual escape rooms, but here's a fun idea: LibWizard for staff training and onboarding! We've all been in a new job where the staff onboarding consisted of reading a three-ring binder full of policies and procedures. While we do love a binder, creating a tutorial has some key advantages when it comes to staff training and onboarding:

before and after customization Want to see it in action? Guest speaker Melissa Jones presents on how they're using LibWizard to train both new librarians and student workers at Wilmington University!
  • Customizable - You can set your tutorial up however you like! Include content like existing LibGuides, websites, images, videos, PDFs, and text. You can also add questions to gather feedback or test comprehension. You can even add a certificate of completion at the end!
  • Interactive - Tutorials are divided into two columns, content on the right and instructions, questions, or other information on the left.
  • Easy to Update - Tutorials are web-based, so any updates you make in LibWizard will immediately be reflected in your tutorial.
  • Trackable - The built-in reporting module allows you to track usage!
