SpringyNews - Building Blocks for Optimal Learning

December 2019

Consider This Your Invitation to the Block Party!

Springshare is thrilled to introduce everyone to SpringyU. We've designed a whole new way for you to learn how to use your Springshare tools. We're launching first with the very popular LibCal. Soon, we will add more of our tools to SpringyU so that this becomes a favorite source for this optimal learning style. SpringyU is all about:

  • Self-Paced Learning - We know you're busy. So, you and your team decide when the learning happens, where, and you can tailor your efforts based on how much time you have at the moment.
  • 3 Ways to Learn - Discover our approaches, namely Blocks, Courses, and coming soon -- Projects.
  • Your Goals - You decide what's on the syllabus for your staff and per individual.

SpringyU is exactly what you need to get a handle on the basics, to continue learning by keeping up with new features and enhancements, and to get the expert training you need to take on your library's priorities with Springshare tools.

Springyverse...We'd Like You To Meet SpringyU!

What Are Blocks?

Are you ready to block off some time for learning? If so, we've got you covered. SpringyU Blocks are units of learning that you can select. You are given the topic, the amount of time it takes to complete the Block, and the number of tasks within the Block. Each SpringyU Block is fewer than 5 minutes and they are all videos.

  • Choose Blocks based on what you know you need to learn right now.

  • Choose multiple Blocks based on the amount of time you can devote.

  • Choose the order in which you tackle them. Watch them as many times as you wish.

This is custom micro-learning aimed at keeping you focused and on task.

What Are Courses?

Courses are another approach to learning on SpringyU. Our team has created Courses that contain a group of Blocks specifically assembled to help you accomplish clear-cut goals.

There will be Courses that walk you through initial set-up of the modules in LibCal, for instance. Some Courses will be designed and added to teach you how to perform direct tasks like Scheduling Workers in LibStaffer or Creating Standalone Tutorials in LibWizard.

SpringyU Courses detail:

  • How much time it will take to complete the Course.

  • How many steps (videos) there are.

  • You'll see the tasks that are involved as well as what's next, and even get links to related articles from the Springshare Help Center.

SpringyU Courses are the guided approach to learning how to master functionality in Springshare tools to empower you and your team to tackle library projects with confidence.

What Are Projects?

SpringyU Projects are for the advanced users who are eager to engage with Springshare tools to achieve goals like:

  • New Employee Onboarding.
  • Prioritizing Customer Service.
  • Or, since Springshare tools play nicely together, Projects can help you learn to connect the tools to work on big picture targets or larger scale projects like Hosting Special Events and Conferences.

Projects will incorporate a number of Blocks -- perhaps from different tools -- to foster the learning necessary to take your library to next-level work in the service of your patrons and for the efficiency of your staff.

Projects are on the horizon for SpringyU. We will be sure to let you know when they are ready!
