New LibCal Museum & Passes eTicketing Tool

The era of clunky laminated museum passes that need to be checked out and returned to the library is coming to a close, and we can't say we're sad to see them go! While some Museums, Zoos, and other cultural institutions are providing paper tickets for their library partners, others are offering eTicketing options so patrons can reserve, check out, and print museum passes from home.

While expanded options are exciting, they also present a new challenge for libraries: managing both physical Tickets and printable eTickets in one place. The LibCal Museum Pass and eTicketing module offers a flexible tool that allows for both physical Tickets picked up at the library and eTickets delivered directly to your patron's inbox.

Library of Things and Beyond

This new LibCal Museum & Passes eTickets functionality combined with the existing Equipment Booking module creates a robust Lending Hub where you can:

  • Create a visual catalog of items your library lends
  • Control lending of physical museum/zoo passes
  • Issue and manage downloadable ePasses for museums, zoos, and other venues

Easy Navigation and Booking

We know that ease of use is a top priority, so we've developed a highly visual booking module that allows patrons to browse by museum/institution or date of pass availability.

  • Physical and eTicket passes are displayed together for easy browsing
  • Patrons can select date availability or institution view
  • Easy booking grid clearly shows when passes are available and when they've been booked
  • Mobile-friendly out of the box

Flexible Customization

While managing a museum pass program may sound simple, we know that every museum has different guidelines, and relationships vary from library to library. There may be specific instructions for one museum that are totally different for another, or outside funding sources like Trustees or Friends groups that need to be mentioned at the museum level.

  • Built-in authentication so patrons can be prompted to enter library card and pin during the reservation process
  • Museum-level customization allows you to add specific information, lending rules, email templates, and more
  • Built-in mapping to provide easy museum location information
